New Hospital for Kingaroy Needed

Matthew Canavan said that Kingaroy needs a new hospital after he toured the local hospital this morning with the local Member for Nanango, Deb Frecklington, and the Assistant Minister for Health, Fiona Nash.

"A tradesmen is only as good as his tools. The doctors and nurses at the Kingaroy hospital do a fantastic job but they are limited by the tools they have to work with" said Senator Matthew Canavan.

"The need for a new hospital in Kingaroy is as clear as the weather is today. Rabbits would get lost in some of the hallways. As a Senator for Queensland I will do everything I can to bring its needs to the top of the list. That’s why I asked Fiona to come up from Canberra to have a look."

"Kingaroy has one of the busiest maternity wards in regional Queensland and it does its best with a WWII built hospital. It does a great job but could do a lot better with better facilities. While State Governments fund hospitals, I will raise the needs of Kingaroy with the Queensland Health Minister, Lawrence Springborg" said Federal Assistant Minister for Health, Senator Fiona Nash.
“It was a wonderful opportunity to have Senator Matt Canavan and Senator Fiona Nash visit the Kingaroy Hospital today and show them the extent of the need for infrastructure upgrades” Mrs Frecklington said.

“I’d really like to thank the Hospital staff for welcoming us to the Hospital and for giving us an insight into the depth and breadth of their workload. We had the chance to talk one-on-one with so many of the staff from various departments. They do an amazing job, especially given the ageing facilities and cramped conditions” she said.
